This Week in World News. Hilary Clinton makes a historic visit to Laos. She is the first United States high-ranked official to visit Laos in 57 years. Many people were killed by bombs dropped by the U.S. during the Vietnam War.
Annotation: More bombs were dropped onto Laos, than Germany & Japan combined during World War II.
Earlier in the week, 3 Chinese boats patrolled the islands in East China Sea. Japan protested in response. This started a long-time argument again. For years, China and Japan have been arguing over who the islands belong to. This is because the islands have plenty of fish for fishermen, and mineral resources too. The Whiz Times covered a related story here.
Annotation: The islands are known as Diaoyu in China, but known as Senkaku in Japan.
