It's a Hurrah! for all countries, as everyone makes a pledge to reduce global warming. What are the steps agreed upon?
About 11,000 experts from over 190 countries gathered in Lima in Peru, South America, to attend a climate conference from 1 to 14 December 2014. The meeting was held to get ready for another very important United Nations Climate Change Conference to be held in Paris, France, from 30 November to 11 December 2015. The next round of talks preparing for the Paris meeting will be held in Geneva.

- The representatives agreed to submit suggestions on how they plan to slow down climate change and how they will to cut back on harmful emissions in the first three months of 2015. These plans are called Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs)
- Many industrialised countries agreed to allow being questioned on how they will keep down emissions.
- Countries also agreed to contribute more money to take the new Green Climate Fund beyond the first target of $ 10 billion.

- Participants suggested governments teach climate change problems in school so that people become aware of the problems and how to counter them, from a young age.
- Countries also came up with new ideas to bring down deforestation or the cutting of forest trees and put in reports on how they have worked to save their forests and bring down greenhouse emissions.
- Women play an important role in the battle against climate change, and the Lima conference agreed to work on involving more women in the fight against global warming.
