Malaysian opposition leader files no confidence motion against PM Najib
Malaysia's Opposition leader Wan Azizah Wan Ismail on Thursday (October 22) filed another notice for a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Najib Razak in parliament.
A Member of Parliament from her party – Parti Keadilan Rakyat - Hee Loy Sian, had filed an initial notice, but critics including fellow opposition party Democratic Action Party (DAP) said that a motion of such gravity needed to be brought by the opposition leader Dr Wan Azizah herself.

There is doubt as to whether the motion will be heard during this parliament session but Dr Wan Azizah said that she is confident that when it does, the opposition will have the support of not just their MPs, but those from Mr Najib's coalition Barisan Nasional as well.

Added Dr Wan Azizah,
“It must be noted that the motion only relates to the loss of confidence in Mr Najib, but not in the government. This is because I and many others irrespective of political affiliations believe that the difficult economic, social and political crisis this country is facing is due to the leadership crisis in the country.”

Mr Najib has been plagued by allegations of corruption and financial mismanagement of debt-ridden state investment firm 1Malaysia development Berhad (1MDB). He has so far not been convicted of any wrongdoing though multiple probes into the fund are ongoing.
