One World Trade Center sets new record
WHAT A MAJESTIC SIGHT!
It is official - One World Trade Center in New York City, USA, will be the tallest building in North America when it is completed in early 2014. It will stand at 1,776 feet (541.3 meters) tall from the base of the building to the tip of its spire. (The spire is the needle-like structure on the top of the building.) It will be even taller than Willis Tower in Chicago which is currently North America's tallest building.
One World Trade Center will be the world's third tallest building, after the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and the Makkah Royal Clock Tower in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
One World Trade Center is located where the original World Trade Center used to be. The original center had twin towers and a few other buildings which were all destroyed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Would you like to visit One World Trade Center one day? Think of how small the cars and people will look when you are on the highest floor!
