A secret picnic: Diner En Blanc

Here everyone is dressed in white too!

Literally meaning ‘Dinner in White’, Diner En Blanc is an invite-only secret picnic that originated from France and now has spread all around the world. Guests are usually invited at the last minute by the organizers, where the location is only revealed just before the dinner occurred.
As Diner en Blanc is said to reflect the “elegance and glamour of society”, guests are required to dress fully in white, bring along another guest of the opposite gender and seat in designated arrangements with their own food, white tables and chairs, and fine silverware.

How did this event start? Diner en Blanc was started by a French person named François Pasquier in Bois de Boulogne to meet up with a few of his friends. All of them had to wear white in order to identify and recognize each other at that time. As they found that concept to be fun and successful, they spread the word around and this lead to the current high number of participants in this annual event.   United States, 2014 This year, to celebrate its 25th anniversary, United States held the Diner en Blanc at Nelson A. Rockefeller Park in Battery Park City, New York on 25th August 2014. Guests were of course, required to wear in full white color and to bring food, silverware, table and chairs, and champagne.
