NEVER A BORING DAY

All sorts of things happen around the world everyday - funny, sad, amazing, weird, wonderful ... It would take a person hours to read all the news about every single thing that happened in one day. The Whiz Times has selected a few interesting stories and pictures of events that took place on April 18, 2014.

Could there be life on another planet? Scientists have discovered the first Earth-sized  planet that is within the Could there be life on another planet? Scientists have discovered the first Earth-sized
planet that is within the "habitable zone" of another star. This means there could be life on that planet. Called Kepler-186f, this planet lies 500 light years from Earth. In March 2014,  Japan was  ordered to stop its Antarctic whale hunt because it was found to be hunting whales to  make money instead of for scientitic research. By international law, whale hunting is  allowed only for scientific research and not for commercial reasons (to be sold). Japan's  latest decision is likely to make environmentalists angry. The search  is on for more missing climbers. The avalanche occurred about 5.8 kilometres above sea  level in a dangerous zone. It is considered the most deadly accident on Mount Everest in  history. A passenger got in trouble with the law when he  behaved badly on a Cathay Pacific airplane on February 14. He appeared in court on April  18. He had lied that there was a bomb on the plane and held up a Toblerone chocolate bar  like a sword. He then demanded that the flight be changed to Sochi, Russia, where the  Winter Olympics was taking place. He is thought to be having mental problems. He's not  the only naughty one around.
