NOT THE STUFF YOU USUALLY SEE IN MUSEUMS
When you hear the word "art", what do you think of? Paintings in a quiet museum? Stony-faced statues that stare into space? Serious art like that can be beautiful and meaningful. But art can also take on so many other forms that you might not even call it "art".
Art can take on many forms such as dance, singing, poetry and exhibits that convey a message. Art is a form of self-expression where the artist uses his or her work to show how he or she feels about a certain issue or topic. The same piece of art may mean different things to different people. For some people, the smiley face on the huge astronaut in the picture above may mean the joy of exploring the universe; to other people, it may simply be a sign of happiness.
Sometimes, a piece of art could be created for the simple purpose of making a room or place look more alive and beautiful!

What a slippery ride! A lady takes part in the Bristol Park and Slide project by artist Luke Jerram in Bristol, England on May 4, 2014. Over 95,000 people applied for just 360 tickets to slide on inflatable lilos down a soapy water slide on a street that has been specially closed for this event. Mr Jerram wanted to bring back old memories of kids playing in empty streets in England in the 1900s. AFP PHOTO/LEON NEAL
