PSLE results: More students make it to secondary schools
More Primary 6 students qualified for secondary school this year, although fewer were eligible for the Express stream, according to the results of this year's Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) released by the Ministry of Education on Wednesday (November 25).

More than 98% of the cohort (or 38,610 out of 39,286 students) qualified for secondary school, an increase from the 97% in 2014. While those eligible for the Express course went down a little compared to last year, more students qualified for the Normal (Academic) course than for the Normal (Technical) course.

As for the 676 students who did not qualify for the above-mentioned courses, those who attempted PSLE for the first time may try again in the coming year or apply to Assumption Pathway School (APS) or NorthLight School (NLS), the ministry said. The other students who have attempted PSLE more than once will be preferentially offered a place in APS or NLS.

In addition, the four madrasahs in Singapore met the benchmark aggregate, said Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Yaacob Ibrahim. In a Facebook post, Dr Yaacob also said that almost all of the 280 madrasah students who took the PSLE qualify for secondary school.

Students eligible for secondary school may submit their school options via the Secondary One Internet System from 11am on Wednesday to 3pm on December 1. The posting results will be released on Tuesday, December 22, and students are to report to the schools they are posted to at 8.30am the next day, MOE said.
