Is that what you call a dog's life?

If money is a measure, some people really love their pets. Bella Mia, a Maltese Terrier, has been left a million-dollar estate that includes jewellery she will never wear and a vacation home in Port St Lucie. The generous owner, 60-year-old Rose Ann Bolasny from New York has given Bella Mia a lavish life. As she drew up her will, she wanted to make sure Bella Mia would not fall short on creature comforts if her human family died ahead of her. Bella Mia is three years old. One dog year is about equal to between five and seven years in the life of a human. A Maltese dog is expected to live for 12 to 15 years.     Bolasny believes Bella Mia deserves every bit she will get. Although she is a pampered pooch, Bella Mia, she says, does her bit for those who are less fortunate. She volunteers a lot of her time for charity events at hospitals every week. That, believes Bolasny, is more voluntary work than many of us ever put in.   Bolasny has two sons — Louis, 38, and Robert, 32 — who do not grudge Bella Mia getting whatever she is. After all, they are getting more than Bella Mia. Bella Mia is not the first pooch to inherit millions. Trouble, another Maltese dog, inherited US$ 12 million from her owner Leona Helmsley who was a real estate billionaire who died in 2007. After her owner’s death, Trouble lived in the stylish Sandcastle Hotel in Florida! Trouble died in December 2010 at the age of 12. She was looked after by Carl Lekic, the general manager of the hotel who spent US$100,000 a year on her, including US$8,000 for grooming, US$1,200 for food and some, for his fee. He also had to pay a full-time security guard since Trouble had received over 20 kidnapping and death threats. Some dogs have it all!
