A fiery end to a rocket carrying supplies to astronauts
WASHINGTON, October 28, 2014 A rocket exploded Tuesday in a giant fireball and plummeted back to Earth just seconds after launch on what was to be a resupply mission to the International Space Station. After the take-off countdown, the rocket rose a short distance into the air before it suddenly exploded in a fiery blast six seconds later. Enveloped in flames, the rocket collapsed to the ground, as a cloud of dark gray smoke rose from the wreckage. Thankfully, no one was injured, but there was significant property damage. The International Space Station (ISS) is a like a floating spaceship in the outer space, near to the Earth. It has astronauts living inside and conducting experiments on outer space environments and observing the outer space. Supplies are sent to the ISS from the Earth in special rockets, many of which do not have humans inside. These are called Unmanned Rockets.
