Which destination has the world’s best food?
For foodies who also love to travel, trying the cuisine a country has to offer is as important as the destination itself when planning a trip.

1.Taiwan (8242 votes)
Taiwan leads the culinary competition by far. Its food philosophy is simple: eat often and eat well. With 20 streets dedicated to snacking in Taipei alone and foodie haven Tainan, you will always be able to find a better street side bao (bun), a more incredible stinky tofu or mind-blowing beef noodle soup!
2.Philippines (1528 votes)
With an abundance of seafood and tropical fruits, there’s more to Filipino food than the mind-boggling balut (duck embryo). Meat lovers will not be disappointed: there’s the preserved meat dish adobo, as well as party favourite lechon – an entire pig spit-roasted over coals.
3.Italy (810 votes)
Italy is not just pasta, zesty tomato sauces and creamy desserts. Every region has its own specialties so be prepared to travel to Sicily to gorge on arancini (deep fried stuffed rice balls), hike to Naples to sample the world’s best pizza and take a train to Modena for the finest Parmigiano-Reggiano (cheese).
4.Thailand (470 votes)
With influences from China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar and a royal culinary tradition, Thai cuisine is the best of many worlds. Familiar dishes like green curry, stir-fried cashew chicken and pad thai (fried rice noodles) combine so many herbs and spices to produce a complex taste, which is often spicy, sour, salty and sweet all at the same time.
5.Japan (443 votes)
From a lavish multi-course kaiseki meal to a revolving sushi conveyor, it’s impossible to eat badly in Japan. Sampling modern Japanese kyodo ryori (or regional cuisine) is a tourist attraction in itself, where people head out for the weekend to different cities to try several varieties of a single dish.
6.Malaysia (265 votes)
The sum of many delicious parts, Malaysian cuisine is influenced by Chinese, Indian and Malay food. Must-try dishes include the famous laksa, the country’s unofficial dish nasi lemak, soft, sugary kuih (or kueh, Malay-style pastries) and the delicious rendang.
7.Hong Kong (236 votes)
This city is home to some of the most food-obsessed people in the world. With a never-ending array of food from dim sum and boh loh baau (pineapple bun) to chicken feet and lap cheung (dried Chinese sausage), you will be spoilt for choice.
8.India (205 votes)
While the abundant use of spice is a common factor in this country, the regional varieties are vast. There’s Goa’s seafood, the wazwan of Kashmir (a multi-course meal) and the coconut-ty richness of Kerala. And not forgetting all the great tasting Indian desserts and vegetarian food.
9.Greece (167 votes)
Travelling and eating in Greece feels like a glossy magazine spread come to life – like the country’s blue seas and white buildings, the kalamata olives, feta cheese, colourful salads and roast meats are all picture postcard perfect. The secret? Lashings of glistening olive oil, Greece’s greatest export.
10.Vietnam (162 votes)
While the spectrum of Vietnamese dishes is surprisingly diverse for such a small country – each city, even each village, has its own unique specialties – the cheapest and one of the most delicious places to sample authentic Vietnamese cuisine is in a traditional open-air market. Here you can try all the delicacies, including pho (fresh rice noodles) done in several different ways, a wide variety of fried and fresh spring rolls and an equally amazing assortment of pancakes.
