An air-terminal just for animals?
JFK, one of the world’s largest airports, will soon become the world’s first to have a terminal only for animals.
Unknown to and unseen by us, a large number of animals travel around the world. Horses are sent around for show events and races and pets like dogs and cats travel when their human family moves or when they are adopted.
The new terminal which costs about 30 million pounds, will make sure they now travel in vehicles where the temperature is controlled to a comfortable degree.
It will have specially designed boarding and kennel facilities and an aviary. It will also have proper holding areas for large and small animals that are kept in quarantine or checked out for health issues.
Professor Temple Grandin, who is a specialist in livestock movement, will make sure that he advises the terminal how cattle, goats, pigs, and sheep are handled correctly.
The terminal will be ready by early 2016 and besides making animals more comfortable, will bring hope and jobs to about 110 people.
Most importantly, there will be a veterinary doctor to monitor the health of the guests.
What would you have named such a terminal?
They’ve called it "The Ark".
If you get it, why did they call it 'The Ark', write in the comments below.
